Prof. Chen Yixin

Chen Yixin, a native of Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province, studied electrical insulation and cable technology in the Department of Electrical Equipment Manufacturing, Jiaotong University in 1952. After graduation in 1956, he stayed in school to teach. He has successively served as director of electrical insulation teaching and research division, chairman of Applied Physics department, deputy director and chief engineer of information storage research center, honorary director of the Institute of Optics and Photonics, professor, doctoral supervisor and other posts at Shanghai Jiaotong University. He has trained more than 50 postgraduates, doctoral and postdoctoral students.
In 1979, as one of the first visiting scholars to the United States, he was engaged in integrated optics research at the University of California, San Diego, California. He has published five academic works such as Integrated Optics Theory and Applications, and has published more than 100 academic papers and conference reports. He won the special scientific research award of the State Council and the Shanghai Award for scientific and technological progress. He has held many international and national academic conferences and served as the chairman of the conference or the member and chairman of the program committee. He was awarded the titles and awards of young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions from the state, special allowance from the State Council, model workers in Shanghai and outstanding educators in Shanghai. He is now a senior Life Member of the IEEE society of the United States.
Since 1998, he has served as Chief Engineer, Chief Scientist or Senior Technical Advisor and Director of E-TKE Company, JDS Uniphase Company, Bookham Company, as well as many international and domestic technology companies and industry associations. He also served as Consultant of the Optical Fibers and Electric Cables and Optical Devices Branch of the China Electronic Components Industry Association.
